Blaire House of Milford today announced its unique dining services program. Blaire House of Milford is moving traditional meal service out of the institutional kitchen into resident dining areas in an attempt to create a more enjoyable dining experience for residents which would be reminiscent of home.

“We renovated our existing dining room and added professional, restaurant-style steam tables, a soft serve ice cream machine, salad bar and a juice and coffee station” states Frank C. Romano, President/CEO.   This unique dining service will create an environment where sights and aromas stimulate resident’s appetites resulting in improved meal intake, a decrease in weight loss and decrease use of appetite stimulating medications.”

Martha A. Mancuso, Executive Director of Blaire House of Milford says, “Residents previously received a meal on a tray from the kitchen at prescribed times. If they didn’t like what was presented to them, they had the option of asking for an alternative or a sandwich as available. The new dining services program will allow residents to choose the foods they prefer from the menu selections offered thereby improving resident satisfaction.”

Blaire House of Milford will provide meals to residents in on china, with linen table cloths and glass stemware.   Wait staff will present menu choices at table side.   Residents are encouraged to mix and match from the main and alternative menus allowing them a choice to enjoy their own personal meal preference.

“Our new dining services program will definitely enhance the quality of our meal service.  Meals will be served restaurant style, drinks first, and then entrees, followed by desserts instead of the entire meal on one tray. While following special diets, more choices will be offered.  This new method of dining will be a breakthrough and hopefully give our residents a better quality of life during their mealtimes” said Nick Hadges, Food Services Director.
