Blaire House showered with honors
Staff members and residents of Blaire House, a Tewksbury fixture for more than three decades, have been overwhelmed by the accolades that the elder services facility has gotten recently. “We have never received this many awards (at once),” said Paula Drelick, director of assisted living at Blaire House. “Everyone’s thrilled.”
Blaire House was awarded the “Silent Partner Business Award” by the Elder Services of the Merrimack Valley. The award is given out once a year to an organization that makes a substantial contribution toward supporting the mission of Elder Services.
“They have been just so generous and committed to helping us,” said Rosanne DiStefano, executive director of Elder Services of the Merrimack Valley. Since 2001, Blaire House has raised more than $12,000 for the Elder Care Fund, which provides emergency help and in-home services for elderly people throughout the Merrimack Valley.
Blaire House is the prime sponsor of the “Taste of the Merrimack Valley,” which includes 34 restaurants and draws in nearly 600 people each August. All proceeds of the annual event goes to Elder Services.
Blaire House was also featured in the 2005 Reader’s Choice Awards compiled annually by the Community Newspaper Company. It was voted as the number-one assisted living facility in the area. Blaire House has 35 assisted living apartments, but the facility is unique in that it also features a 131-bed nursing home, as well as an adult day health-care program.
