To all the staff at Blaire House who cared for our mother, Alice Ebner,
Thank you so very much for all the happiness and joy you gave to her this past year. She loved people and loved all the attention you gave to her.
I wish I knew the names of everyone who took care of her. No matter where she went in the building, people called her by name. The smiles, the "Hi Alice," the care - all made her stay pleasant. Thanks to all of you.
To Sharon and Leslie: (social services) Your concern, your care, your updates, your smiles and your hugs, helped us all through this past year. It's not easy to see someone you love failing a little every day, but you helped us through those times.
To Jen: (rehabilitation physical therapy) What can we say? The coffee meetings upstairs, inviting her to just come and sit with you while you finished your paperwork, your visits; all meant so much to her.
To Terry: (receptionist) Thanks for your pleasant greetings when we arrived.
She was buried on Monday in Manchester MA, next to our father. On our drive down from New Hampshire, it was raining a bit when I looked over to the east and saw a bright patch in the sky. I told my husband that it was sunny in Manchester and when we arrived, the sun was shining. It was a simple graveside service. After the reception, a group of us went down to the harbor and tossed flowers in the water. They all floated out to sea.
She lived a good life and you all added to that joy. Thank you,
Joanne Dodge & Judy Hamilton
Dear Kelly and Ruthy, (Nurses)
You are the head & heart of your department and Madeline was sorry to leave your care. She fought so hard to stay but "He" called and "His" call cannot be ignored.
Thank everyone for all their help and cooperation. I never really understood and appreciated your profession and what you do for the people that everyone else has given up on.
Sincerely,
Edward Tkacs

P.S. Save a place for me when it is my turn.

I am writing with a sad heart to let you know that my uncle, Joe Golas, passed away yesterday at the Blaire House. I know that you knew him and he spoke of you often. I was there at the time with my cousin, JB, who I believe you also know. The staff at Blaire House is an incredible group of people and are to be commended for the high quality of service, genuine love, and care they displayed. You run a great facility and staff it with great people who really care.
Thank you,

To Whom It May Concern,
Last week my brother and I again visited our mother at your facility. We are always so pleased with Blaire House and its staff; they all do such a great job. We had the pleasure of meeting with Beverly Avanti, the Activities Director for your facility. Both my brother and I can't say enough about this very caring and giving person. Her warm reception made us feel so at ease. She took the extra time out of her busy schedule to talk with us about the activities my mother is included in each day and also to introduce us to the Blaire House manager.
Beverly just beams with enthusiasm and true concern, not only for our mother, but for all the patients. We could truly see her full commitment and responsibility to her position at Blaire House. Since we both live a considerable distance from Blaire House, it is comforting to know our mother is in good hands.
So, to Beverly and the entire Blaire House staff . . .Thank you for all the great care you give to our mother!
Sincerely,
Janice Brown, daughter

Dear Frank, (President and Founder)
I am writing to you to express my gratitude to you and your staff. During this past year my father, Victor Serre, resided at the Blaire House. Whenever I had any questions or concerns due to his health and well-being the staff always answered my questions. I was treated with kindness and patience by the staff. This has been an extremely difficult year for me as you know both my parents passed away this year. While my father was alive and living at the Blaire House there were many dedicated and loving people that cared for him. My father was very fond of many of the staff members and it appeared to me that many of them felt the same way towards him.
I wanted to let you know that your nursing home has many employees that go above and beyond their job duties. You employ so many dedicated and caring people there. Not just the Nurses and CNAs whose job it is to provide healthcare and to comfort the patients, but the kitchen staff, maintenance staff, activities department, cleaning staff, billing department and the Receptionist all treated my father with kindness and respect.
There are many Nurses and CNAs that did a wonderful job with my father. There are a few that really stood out as exceptional nurses: Lee, Jackie, Gina, Amy Brown, Simon, and Gracie. I am very grateful for everything that Lee and Jackie did for my father, along with all of the staff. Gina helped me and my family so much through this difficult time. She has found her calling. She is a very special person and an extraordinary nurse. She always went the extra mile for my Dad. Simon and Gracie were two CNAs that my father really cared for, their friendly attitudes and loving ways really made a world of difference to my father. I will never forget the time I went to the hospital to see my Dad after he was transported there from the Blaire House, the first thing he said to me was “How’s my Gracie, is she okay?”
These people really helped me deal with my father’s illness and death. I am thankful for each one of them. Even Scott, who recently became my father’s social worker, did an amazing job making sure my father got all the services he needed promptly. I was very impressed with the way I was treated by you and your staff. Thank you for helping my father live in comfort and peace during his last few days alive.
If you ever need a reference for a prospective family looking into the Blaire House for a loved one, I will be more than willing to share with them the positive experiences I had with the staff. Not only is the staff extraordinary, but the physical appearance of the building is always immaculate.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Sincerely,
Cindy Ransom
P.S. - I’ll be back to volunteer as soon as I get my name tag!
Dear Mr. Romano, (President and Founder)
In behalf of my family, I’d like to thank you for the many courtesies you’ve shown us concerning Sal. My son and I came Sunday to pick up his belongings, and everything was untouched and just as he left it. It was an emotional moment for us.
He was a very special person, and a wonderful human being. He lived his whole life to be with God.
Blaire House was home to him these last 15 years, and it is because the professional staff became his friends, gave him care and showed compassion. We need so much of that in the medical community.
I thought you’d like to read the obituary that my son wrote and read in Mass about Sal, and have a better understanding of Sal’s life. Maybe you can share this with the staff.
There will always be a void in my life without him.
The Mayor’s Sister,
May
